Maxine Medina gears up for Miss Universe pageant

The excitement builds up as the 65th Miss Universe season comes into full swing. In time for the pre-pageant activities starting January 14, Philippine bet Maxine Medina received a rousing “send-off” party organized by the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) at the Versailles Tent of Novotel Manila Araneta Center on Tuesday, January 10.

The 26-year-old Maxine was radiant and brimming with confidence as she warmly greeted and thanked members of the press. Members of her family as well as a handful of friends also came to show their love and support for the beauty queen.

Maxine said she is grateful for all the support she has been getting, especially from Filipino netizens who actively root for her online. She asked for further support from everyone by using the pageant’s official hashtag #4M4MU.

“The pressure to win is at its greatest now, but your words of encouragement really help strengthen me a lot. I did what I could in preparing for it and I really hope that it all pays off come pageant night,” she says.

The former model and Interior Design graduate received words of encouragement from BPCI Chair Mrs. Stella Marquez Araneta, no less. Her fellow Binibining Pilipinas 2016 winners, namely Miss International 2016 Kylie Verzosa, Miss Grand International 1st Runner-Up Nicole Cordoves, Bb. Pilipinas Intercontinental Jennifer Hammond, Miss Globe 3rd Runner-Up Nichole Manalo, and Bb. Pilipinas Supranational Joanna Eden also gave their heartfelt well-wishes to boost Maxine’s confidence. Bb. Pilipinas 1st Runner Up Angelica Alita and Bb. Pilipinas 2nd Runner-Up Jehza Mae Juelar also did not miss the opportunity to cheer their Binibini sister on.

Maxine will be competing among 86 lovely international delegates from all over the world. All eyes will be on her, as she strives to follow in the footsteps of her compatriot, reigning Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.

The Coronation Night is slated on January 30, which is going to be a major worldwide event. The Philippines previously hosted the Miss Universe pageant in 1974 and 1994.
