Nelda Ibe, Liz Clenci soar high in international title bids

The first two to compete, Elizabeth Clenci and Nelda Ibe, have set the bar high for their fellow Binibining Pilipinas beauty queens.

Liz won second runner-up at the Miss Grand International in Vietnam on October 25, while Nelda came one spot shy to clinching the Miss Globe title in Albania just last November 4.

The fantastic feats of the two queens continue to cement the Philippines' reputation as a powerhouse in the world of pageantry and have provided a strong boost to the other queens’ international campaigns.

"I could not put my emotion into words," said Liz about her second runner-up finish. "It happened so fast, it was a big blur, but I am very happy."

"I was so happy because everything paid off. Having this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is really life-changing. I feel proud because I fought the good fight for my beloved country and have been part of the Miss Globe pageant history that I can keep for life," Nelda said.

They also thanked their fans from all around the world for the support they have shown them.

"(Our supporters) have made this journey so much more worthwhile. They touched my heart with their love and support. It was nice to see people from all around the world supporting us girls in our journey. I am incredibly grateful for them," Liz said.

"I just want to thank them for the love and never-ending support that they showed me. They were one of my inspirations and sources of strength to believe in my capability to win," said Nelda.

While both have already gone back to the Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas International Mariel Rodriguez is currently in Tokyo for the Miss International pageant, with the finals happening on November 14.

Miss Universe Philippines Rachel Peters is set to compete in Las Vegas on November 26 (November 27, Manila time).

Binibining Pilipinas Supranational Chanel Olive Thomas will try to win another crown for the country in Poland on December 1, while Binibining Pilipinas Katarina Rodriguez will represent the Philippines in Sri Lanka on December 21.
