The Miss Intercontinental journey of Cinderella 'Cindy' Obeñita came to a fairytale ending as she was crowned as the second Filipina to win in the pageant.
The 25-year-old tourism officer from Cagayan de Oro was crowned at exactly 12 midnight of October 30 at Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt (6am Philippine time) after besting 70 other contestants who competed in the pageant's 49th edition.
Other finalists include Mexico (1st runner-up), England (2nd runner-up), Seychelles (3rd runner-up), Canada (4th runner-up) and Colombia (5th runner-up).
Obeñita easily advanced to the top 20 and top 6 of the pageant, and delivered a stellar response to the question-and-answer round which sealed her victory.
Her victory came closely after the Philippines bagged its first Miss Intercontinental crown through Karen Gallman in 2018.
Obeñita earned the right to represent the country after winning at the Binibining Pilipinas 2021 coronation night last July 11. She earned a spot in the semifinals as a wildcard candidate (with the most number of votes on the Binibining Pilipinas mobile app), and delivered a remarkable response in the Q&A segment of the pageant.
