Bb. Pilipinas 2018 candidates toured art hubs around the Araneta Center

Amidst their busy schedule, Binibining Pilipinas 2018 candidates still found time to visit art hubs around the Araneta Center.

On January 23, the candidates went to the Gateway Gallery to learn more about the country’s history through the exhibit "SiningSaysay: Philippine History in Art." The exhibit, which features 30 large-scale paintings from pre-historic Philippines to the contemporary period, is a joint project of the Araneta Center and UP Alumni Association. "SiningSaysay" aims to promote art appreciation while teaching history.

John Ray Ramos, history professor and founder of the advocacy group Proyekto, discussed with the Binibinis the significant events depicted in the paintings and emphasized the important role of Filipinas in shaping Philippine history.

The candidates also tried Gateway Gallery's digital feature called "SiningLakbay: Philippine History in Augmented Reality," the first AR exhibit in the country. By simply downloading the free app on IOS or Android on their phones, the ladies were able to watch videos and listen to narrations on Philippine history via select paintings in the exhibit.

In the afternoon of January 31, the candidates bonded with their fellow aspiring beauty queens as they pose and take photos with interactive paintings at the Art in Island Interactive 3D Art Museum. Aside from marveling at the fantastic displays at the biggest 3D art museum in Asia, the Binibinis also got to see the museum's latest attraction—projection mapped performances, which combine interactive 3D paintings with interactive projection.

With all the fantastic displays and features at the Gateway Gallery and Art in Island Museum, the candidates surely had a blast spending their afternoons at the art hubs around the Araneta Center.
