Glitter and Glamour at Araneta Center's Grand Santacruzan
The Araneta Center recently unveiled a Grand Santacruzan like no other, with a procession of the most beautiful women in the Philippines in glamorous Filipiniana couture last May 18. The star-studded parade featured the recently crowned Binibining Pilipinas 2014 Queens, past candidates and no less than Charlene Gonzales-Muhlach as Reyna Emperatriz.
An iconic Filipino tradition, the Santacruzan commemorates the search of the Holy Cross by Reyna Elena and her son, Emperor Constantine. The festive thanksgiving of finding the Holy Cross in Jerusalem is replicated all over the country in the fiesta month of May. However, none compares to the pageantry and the overload of beautiful Binibinis of the Araneta Center Grand Santacruzan, which has grown to be staple in the celebration of Flores de Mayo in the metropolis.
The Grand Santacruzan showcased Miss Universe Philippines 2014 - Mary Jean Lastimosa, Bb Pilipinas International 2014 - Bianca Guidotti, Bb Pilipinas Tourism 2014 Parul Shah, Bb Pilipinas Intercontinental Kris Tiffany Janson, Bb Pilipinas Supranational Yvethe Santiago, Bb Pilipinas 1st Runner Up Laura Lehmann and Bb Pilipinas 2nd Runner Up Hannah Sison.
Adding star power were the golden batch of binibinis, Miss Tourism Queen top 15 placer Cindy Miranda, Miss Supranational 2013 Johanna Datul and Miss International 2013 Bea Rose Santiago. They were joined by no less than legendary beauty queen, Bb Pilipinas Universe 1994 Charlene Gonzalez.
An exhibition of both beauty and style, the Grand Santacruzan showcased exquisite Filipiniana creations of the country’s best designers. The 38 piece collection orchestrated by Bing Cristobal featured a mix of modern, traditional and haute couture Filipiniana, designed by Lloyd Arceo, Jun Ilosorio, and Jojo Manalo, to name a few.
The Grand Santacruzan at the Araneta Center reeled off with a Holy Mass at 4pm from the Gateway Park beside the Smart Araneta Coliseum, followed by the procession at 5 PM.
