Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul comes home to Isabela

A week after Miss Supranational 2013 Mutya Johanna Datul's triumphant return to the Philippines, she went back home to her home province, Isabela, to personally thank her kababayans for the prayers and support she received in her journey to the Miss Supranational crown.

Much anticipation was set for Mutya's return to Isabela, who bested 82 other competitors in the prestigious Miss Supranational competition held in Minsk, Belarus last September 6. She is the first Filipina and first Asian to bag the beauty pageant title and was also awarded Miss Personality. The 5'8" stunner wowed the European judges with her vivacious personality, her megawatt smile and her signature 'salagubang walk.'

Mutya's schedule was filled to the brim during her homecoming visit. Upon arriving in Isabela, she visited her old high school, Sta. Maria National High School, where she was given a warm welcome by her former teachers and schoolmates. She then paid a courtesy call to Sta. Maria Mayor Gilbert Masigan, before going on a victory parade around the town.

The next day, she had another victory parade at Cauayan City, just outside the capital Ilagan. Then, she proceeded to help in distributing relief goods to senior citizens and indigents at San Manuel town, along with Isabela Governor Faustino Dy III and Vice Governor Antonio "Tonypet" Albano. In the afternoon, she paid a visit to her old university, Isabela State University, in Ilagan City, where she was given a special recognition for her achievement in the Miss Supranational 2013 pageant.

In her speech, Mutya thanked the university's VIPs, the faculty, students, and the rest of her fellow Isabelinos for all the support, prayers, and love that she got. She also thanked the cities and municipalities that also gave her a special recognition for her victory in Belarus earlier this month. "Ang suporta po ninyo ang nagpalakas ng aking loob nung nag-compete po ako sa Belarus," she said.

Mutya gave special thanks to her policeman father, Wilfredo Datul, her mother Merlie, and her whole family for always believing in her. "Malaking pasasalamat po sa aking tatay na si Wilfredo Datul. He is my superhero; lahat po ng values na itinuro niya sa akin, dinala ko kahit nasa Belarus ako," she said. Mutya also found the time to visit her family's home and be with her relatives.

Mutya's victory is an impressive addition to Binibining Pilipinas' golden year, which was marked by big events such as the Queens' Reunion Party last March and the Grand Coronation Night last April.
