A Legacy of Beauty Continues with Binibining Pilipinas 2008
The 2008 pageant season is officially on with the introduction of the official 24 candidates for this year’s Bb. Pilipinas beauty pageant to members of the media and sponsors at the Sunset Pavilion of Sofitel Philippine Plaza Manila. Known as the most prestigious pageant, the event continues to attract hundreds of the best beauties from all over the Philippines in the quest to be named the country’s official representative to the Miss International, Miss Universe, and Miss World pageants. The best candidates who epitomize a distinct combination of beauty and brains along with concern for various humanitarian causes will ultimately be chosen as this year’s queens during the Coronation Night set on Saturday, March 8, at the Araneta Coliseum.
To fulfill a lasting legacy of beauty, the latest batch of official candidates to the 2008 Binibining Pilipinas Pageant is as promising as ever, with law students, CPAs, medical professionals, teachers, and even an SK chairman in the roster. Their interests range from fashion design to playing musical instruments to horseback-riding, among others. From all corners of the country, these gorgeous and articulate ladies are all hoping to do the country proud in the Miss International, Miss Universe, and Miss World pageants.
In 2007, the Philippines was represented by Bb. Pilipinas International Nadia Lee Shami, Bb. Pilipinas Universe Anna Theresa Licaros, and Bb. Pilipinas World Maggie Wilson.
Apart from the chance to represent the country in the three top international pageants, the winners also become messengers of love and hope to orphans, indigent families and other less-fortunate members of society through the various causes being supported by Bb. Pilipinas Charities Inc., a non-stock, non-profit organization.
An exciting lineup of activities will be held throughout the course of the pageant season right after the press presentation. The ladies are soon to be featured in a fashion show featuring the newest collection of leading fashion line, Cumbia at Gateway Mall. They will also be sharing their blessings with beneficiaries during the annual pageant charity day, and will get to showcase their various skills in singing, dancing, and more during the talent competition. The official candidates will also be going on tour around the Araneta Center in the annual Parade of Beauties. All of these highly-anticipated events, together with various workshops and training sessions, lead up to the ultimate moment—the Binibining Pilipinas 2008 Coronation Night at the Big Dome.
The quest for true beauty shines through with the lasting legacy of the annual Binibining Pilipinas pageant, which is more than the country’s most prestigious beauty search, but the gateway to many meaningful opportunities for Filipinas to be able to make a difference in the world, with its constant commitment to various humanitarian causes.
