Danielle Castaño:a Genuine Advocacy for the World
A beauty queen with such a radiant face will definitely not be lost in the crowd. But soon as she engages you with the warmth of conversation, her inner strength and character shines through.
Danielle Kirsten Muriel Castaño is indeed above the average definition of beauty, exuding a confidence that complements an irresistible combination of substance and style. She is also the official representative to the Miss World 2008 pageant to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa to be held this December 13 at the Sandton Convention Center
Danielle expresses her excitement for the upcoming pageant, where she will be competing against 106 other candidates from all over the globe. “I hope that I will be lucky enough to win the first Miss World crown for our country”, she says, as she flashes another one of her dazzling smiles.
This 19-year-old charmer was raised in the country’s shoe capital, Marikina, but is currently residing in Quezon City. She is also an athlete who is excels in volleyball and track and field. According to her, engaging in sports helps boost her self-confidence and gives her time to reflect as she copes with her day-to-day challenges. “When I run, I feel like I fly, I am in control and I can do everything,” she shares. One thing that Danielle is most proud of about herself is the fact that she knows that she is a very independent and responsible person.
The eldest of three sisters, Danielle also holds a soft spot in her heart for children, particularly the sick and abused. According to her, she wants to campaign for their rights as part of her advocacy. “I want to be remembered by people as someone who did something socially significant for the underprivileged”, she admits. Prior to leaving for South Africa, Danielle organized, with the help of Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc., a fun-filled afternoon with activities such as gift-giving, a basketball clinic, and a medical mission for the malnourished children living in Barangay Mary Town and Daang Tubo in Quezon City. Her family has been helping the residents in the area and for the past four years, and she decided to continue her charity activity as part of her core advocacy. She adds that she wants to carry across a message of hope for children around the world, should she win for the Philippines its first Miss World crown.
Danielle was the crowd favorite in the Binibining Pilipinas 2008 pageant, bagging five special awards from the major sponsors. Known as the country’s most prestigious pageant with four decades of glorious existence, Binibining Pilipinas is responsible for sending the official Philippine representatives to the three different international pageants recognizing excellence beyond beauty worldwide.
Danielle is currently undergoing a series of rigorous training in catwalk skills and personality development with topnotch experts, but is definitely ready to compete against 106 other official representatives in the Miss World 2008 pageant in South Africa.
Danielle gets even more excited as she talks about her future plans. “After I finish school, I really want to become a fashion designer and start my own clothing line,” she enthuses, as she talks about her enterprising side. With a spirit of independence highlighted with unparalleled charm, Danielle becomes the definition of a true world-class Filipina beauty with a most genuine advocacy in her heart.
