Palawan welcomes returning queen
A heartwarming welcome was given to Binibining Pilipinas-International Janicel Lubina in her homecoming visit to Palawan last April 23. Being away from home since the time she joined the Binibining Pilipinas pageant, Janicel couldn't be happier to return home.
Aboard a giant float, the 20 year-old Palaweño paraded around Narra, her hometown, before her kababayans who congregated to express support and celebrate her triumph. Her fans and relatives along with members of the press also converged at Puerto Princesa for a press conference organized by the local government.
Janicel took a trip down memory lane as she visited her house where she spent her childhood days. As a little girl who grew up in a ramshackle hut, Janicel recalled the times when she worked in a rice farm to help support her family. Never forgetting where she came from and grateful for what she's accomplished, Janicel shared her blessings to kids in her town in a gift-giving ceremony.
Also a sabbatical for the queen, Janicel went to see the Palawan Butterfly Ecological Garden and Tribal Village. Here she had the opportunity to interact and dine with the native Palaw'an tribe, a fulfilling and inspiring time for the Binibini who have always had a heart for tribal communities.
As someone who loves scuba diving, Janicel considers her escapade with her friends, family, and mentors at the Cowrie Island her favorite part.
It was a trip worth remembering. Janicel was overjoyed with the overwhelming support expressed by her fellow Palaweños. "Coming home to Palawan is really one of the best moments I've had since I won the crown. Sobrang nakakataba ng puso ang suportang ipinapakita sa akin ng mga kababayan ko. I will always be a proud Palaweño," shared Janicel during her press conference.
